Providing Infrastructure for “Safe Pit Camera” and Subscription-Based IT Services
Blocking Cyber Threats such as Ransomware and Video Theft through
Wired/Wireless Security Network
PIOLINK has supplied over 3,500 security
switches and security APs to strengthen the network security for AUTOBACS’s “Safe
Pit Camera” system and its subscription-based IT service.
In line with Japan’s growing digital transformation (DX) in automotive maintenance services, PIOLINK (CEO: Youngcheol Cho) is accelerating its expansion into new markets.
Building on its
success in IT managed services for Japan’s SMEs and SOHO businesses, the
company is now broadening its reach across various industries.
PIOLINK announced that it has supplied a total of approximately 3,500 units of its security switches and security APs (access points) to AUTOBACS, Japan’s largest retail and maintenance service chain for automotive products.
These devices are being applied to the “Safe Pit Camera” infrastructure currently being deployed across 584 AUTOBACS stores, and also to AXCS (AcroSys), a subscription-based IT service targeting 90,000 general maintenance shops nationwide.
Given the market
potential, demand is expected to grow in line with expanding service adoption.
In Japan, consumer distrust is rising due to cases of improper vehicle repairs and overcharging.
As a result, there is
growing demand for digital transformation to ensure transparency in automotive
maintenance services.
AUTOBACS SEVEN, which operates the AUTOBACS brand, has announced plans to complete nationwide deployment of the “Safe Pit Camera” system within this year, allowing customers to view the repair process via smartphone.
The company has also launched AXCS, an IT service for general maintenance shops. AXCS integrates secure networking, internet connectivity, maintenance support tools, and customer experience apps into a subscription-based managed service.
AUTOBACS Digital Initiative (ABDi), a subsidiary that provides the “Safe Pit Camera” system and AXCS,
stated at launch:
“As damages from cyberattacks like ransomware increase, local and small maintenance shops lack the resources to properly respond.
A secure network with functions to block intrusion, spread,
and data leakage is not optional, but essential.”
To meet this need, PIOLINK is supplying
wired and wireless security network equipment. Its security switches and
security APs include built-in security engines that:
Together, these functions help establish a secure
and stable network environment.
Over 3,000 devices supplied are managed through PIOLINK’s cloud-based unified management system, which enables centralized monitoring and control.
This system provides visibility and
reporting for AI cameras, operational devices, internal traffic, and threat
status—enhancing operational efficiency.
Sungmin Lee,
Country Manager of PIOLINK Japan, said:
“As a result of this project, our sales in
Japan grew by approximately 70% in the first half of this year compared to the
same period last year. We expect stable revenue growth to continue as more
customers adopt subscription-based services. Going forward, we will continue to
expand our security infrastructure in response to growing DX demand across
various sectors.”
Meanwhile, PIOLINK continues to focus on
its TiFRONT security switches and security APs in Japan, currently
serving over 40,000 customers. These include small and medium-sized
businesses using IT managed services, nationwide retailers and franchise
operators, universities, public institutions, major electric companies, and
enterprise clients such as ABLIC (formerly Seiko Instruments
Semiconductor) and Sharp.
