PIOLINK ranked 1st in Korea ADC market

Press Releases        2020-04-28

PIOLINK was particularly strong in the education and financial markets last year.

PIOLINK announced that sales of its flagship PAS-K rose more than 10 percent last year and topped the domestic application transmission control (ADC) market for the fourth consecutive year.

According to IDC Quarterly Ethernet Switch Tracker, released by IDC in the first quarter of 2020, PIOLINK took up 35 percent of the market in 2019 and topped the list for the fourth consecutive year since 2016.

Kim Min-chul, a senior researcher at IDC Korea, pointed out that the recent surge in telecommunications and Internet service industries has been highlighted, saying that the average annual growth rate of the global ADC market as well as the local ADC market is expected to continue to rise as traffic continues to increase due to increased cloud and big data. In remote operations, streaming services, online shopping and game use caused by the new coronavirus. "At this time, the ADC is a device that resolves the server's traffic overload and sends it to users in high quality, nondisruptive and reliable," he said.

Noh Hyun-tae, head of the ADC Business Department at PIOLINK, said the online opening of elementary, middle and high schools will soon begin following university online lectures due to the prolonged COVID-19. As two-way online lectures will increase traffic on the training network, it is essential to expand line bandwidth and upgrade infrastructure accordingly. As a result, demand for equipment upgrades and expansion will increase at PIOLINK ADC, which also controls the education market, it predicted.

Last year, PAS-K of PIOLINK was particularly strong in the education and financial markets. It nearly doubled on-year growth in the public market alone, taking part in a large-scale project to upgrade private lines at educational institutions and maintaining its No. 1 position in sales in the public procurement market for six consecutive years. It also achieved more than 20 percent on-year results in the financial market alone by relocating computer centers in the primary financial sector, establishing cloud data centers and expanding opportunities to participate in next-generation projects such as fintech.chom

PAS-K in the form of hardware and PAS-KV in the form of virtual instances. There are cloud platforms that support a variety of hypervisors such as VMware and KVM, including Amazon Web Services and software ADC.
